Opening of the exhibition on Monday 21 ore 14:00 a Haaga-Helia UAS / Haaga Campus

A taste of Italy on Screen

Lecture in English by the President of the International Society of Humor Studies, prof. Delia Chiaro (University of Bologna Alma mater studiorum)

It is far from a commonplace to say that Italians do not eat to live but that they live to eat instead. And this is reflected on screen. According to Fellini “Life is a combination of magic and pasta.”

Apart from food that is present in so many of Fellini’s films (especially Satyricon and Amarcord) from the image of Totò and Sofia Loren diving into a huge dish of spaghetti in Miseria e Nobiltà (Mario Mattoli, 1954) to Sofia Loren’s gigantic mortadella (Mario Monicelli 1971) right up to the constant cooking and eating in the films of Ozpetec set in Rome and in Puglia, food has always been a constant presence in Italian movies.

The TV screen is no different. From Montalbano to the Savastano family, there will always be a scene featuring the stereotypical plate of pasta.

The lecture takes place at Haaga-Helia UAS / Haaga Campus on Monday 21.11.2016 at 11:00-13:00 (Pieni Auditorio, L302)
